Woman killed, another hurt in Roxbury hit-and-run; police searching for SUV

A hit-and-run crash in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood left a woman dead and another hurt Saturday night, police said, sharing images of the SUV believed to have hit them.

Anyone who’s seen the dark-colored, compact Mercedes SUV with damage to its front grille and a front light, and missing the right side-view mirror, was asked to contact Boston police.

The crash took place on Washington Street at Lenox Street about 8:30 p.m., police said. The two women were taken to the hospital, with one in life-threatening condition.

The woman later died, according to police. They didn’t identify her beyond being 20 years old. The other victim, a 23-year-old woman, had minor injuries.

Police tape blocked off a large portion of the intersection Saturday night.

Police asked anyone with information about the crash to call detectives at 617-343-4470 or the anonymous tip line, 1-800-494-TIPS. Tips can also be texted to police anonymously by sending the word “TIP” to the number 27463 (CRIME).
