PLAINS TWP. — The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center announced its Mammography Suite has achieved accredited status from the American College of Radiology (ACR).
This designation means that the Wilkes-Barre VA’s mammography program has earned distinction for meeting federally developed quality standards for personnel qualifications, equipment, radiation dose, quality assurance programs and record-keeping and reporting.
Only about 25% of mammography facilities in the United States hold this ACR quality standards’ accreditation.
The VA’s mammography facility will hold this accreditation until January 2027, when it will be reviewed for re-accreditation.
The Wilkes-Barre VA opened its mammography suite just under a year ago and offers veterans state-of-art breast care using the industry’s most advanced equipment.
