OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — USA TODAY recently released its rankings for the best ski resorts across the United States and Canada revealing Utah’s own Snowbasin as the top place to hit the slopes.
Snowbasin was selected by a panel of experts and USA TODAY 10Best editors for the shortlist and put before a public vote. The shortlist was based on what resorts saw the best snowfall, varied terrain, and lift access, among other criteria.

After the public vote, Snowbasin came out at No. 1, beating Mount Bohemia in Michigan and Banff Sunshine Village in Alberta, Canada. Snowbird Resort also ranked in the Top 10, coming in at No. 8.
“Being named the No. 1 Ski Resort from a publication the caliber of USA TODAY is a massive honor and accomplishment for our resort, especially coming off our SKI Magazine win a few weeks ago,” said Snowbasin Resort General Manager Davy Ratchford. “Our team has been working hard to prioritize the guest experience from start to finish through the resort upgrades and improvements.”

Ratchford said the national recognition the resort has received feels rewarding and proves the team’s hard work is paying off.
USA TODAY praised Snowbasin for being one of the “oldest continually-operated ski resorts in North America.”
“Here in the pristine Wasatch Mountains, you’ll find 114 trails and over 3,000 acres of terrain ranging from steep trails, open bowls, and beginner-friendly groomers,” USA TODAY wrote.
Snowbasin was recently tapped by the Salt Lake City-Utah Committee for the Olympic Games to host the Alpine Skiing and Para Alpine Skiing events during the 2034 Winter Olympics. Ratchford said the resort will continue to improve and get better as the Olympic Games draw closer.
