Two people were killed and a third critically injured in a crash in Raynham, Massachusetts, on Monday night.
Raynham police said the single-car crash was reported around 9:30 p.m. Monday on East Britannia Street, near Thrasher Street. When they arrived, emergency crews found a Hyundai Elantra leaning up against a tree. Preliminary investigation determined that the car went airborne before hitting the tree.
Three people were in the vehicle, police said.
Raynham police said the driver, identified as 26-year-old Averi Costa-Burton, of Fall River, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to Morton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A female passenger in the car, identified as 28-year-old Dorryn Robinson, of New Bedford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger, a 25-year-old Fall River man, was taken by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with life-threatening injuries. No update on his condition was immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation by Raynham police and state police detectives assigned to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office.
