Touch A Truck planned for Sept. 14 in Tunkhannock

Did you ever dream of exploring the inside of a fire truck, ambulance, police car, tractor trailer, or any other truck when you were a kid? Imagine meeting the drivers and learning about their jobs.

If you have a child or grandchild who shares this curiosity, you’re in luck. On Saturday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., you and your little ones will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing vehicles and their operators as Touch a Truck returns at Lazybrook Park on Route 6 just east ofTunkhannock.

Touch A Truck is free so that all children and families in the region can participate in this fun and educational, rain or shine event, which also helps support children’s programming at the Wyoming County Cultural Center at the Dietrich Theater. Sponsors of the event include: Holcombe Energy Resource, LLC., Sherwood Freightliner, Milton Hershey School, Coterra Energy, Margie Young, Hildy Morgan, Sherman Construction, Commissioner Ernie King (Paid for by Friends of Ernie King), Comfort Inn & Suites, Tri-County General Insurance Agency, Bluhm Insurance, Sarah Sidorek, Erica Rogler, Route 6 Auto Body, HANDS of Wyoming County, Northern Tier Industry & Education Consortium (NTIEC), and Steve & Pam Weiss.

The first 1,000 children will receive a free firefighter hat and many participants will also be handing out free items for the kids.

Tunkhannock Touch a Truck will feature approximately 20 trucks and vehicles as diverse as a school bus, a log picker, garbage truck, police vehicle, tractor trailer, two race cars, a concrete mixer, cattle truck, dump truck and fire truck. Kids will have a great time climbing in for a photo opportunity and to beep the horn. Food trucks will be on hand for a snack or lunch. These favorites are planning to be there: Manning’s Ice Cream,Giddy Up and Go Snack Shack, the Polish Connection and Loose Shoe Brew.
