Sunnyside High School student wins new car at Big Fresno Fair

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A high school junior from Sunnyside High School is getting ready to hit the road after hitting the books, thanks to The Big Fresno Fair’s 4.0 and Above Program.

For the past 13 years, the fair has been rewarding students’ academic efforts by partnering with several donors to grant scholarships and prizes, this year Sunnyside High School Junior Libiya Torres was the grand prize winner of a brand new Toyota Corolla.

In a social media post, Fresno Unified said, “It pays to get good grades.”

The program invites 8th through 12th students across Fresno County with 4.0 grade point averages or higher to enter a drawing for their chance to win big.

Scholarships

Laptops

Gift cards

Air pods

The program also allows the people of Fresno to play a role, allowing them to donate to scholarships directly to reward hard-working students.

According to the Big Fresno Fair, during the past 12 years of the 4.0 & Above Program, Fresno County 8-12th grade students have won over $769,000 in scholarships and 11 Toyota Corollas.
