Summer weather returns by the middle of the week in Kern

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — After that cool weekend, we climbed closer to average Monday, with valley highs in the low 90s.

Tuesday we’re climbing above that seasonal average of 96, with a forecast high of 98 in Bakersfield, before the 100s return for the middle of the week. Expect similar temperatures in the Kern River Valley this afternoon, with the upper 80s today in the south mountains of Tehachapi and Frazier Park and 100s the Kern Desert.

Weather Wednesday: New weather satellite in orbit

This week’s forecast stays stable and stagnant, with plenty of sun, thanks to high pressure anchored over the desert southwest. As a result, the valley will hover around that 100 degree mark through Saturday.

The long range forecast calls for a slight drop on Sunday, the first day of September, as that ridge of high pressure over the four corners region begins to move a bit. For now there’s no rain in the forecast, with sunny and seasonal weather for next Monday, the Labor Day holiday.
