JACKSON TWP. — An inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas, Jackson Township, is charged with possessing a makeshift weapon and assaulting a corrections officer.
Eddie L. Quick, 39, struggled with a corrections officer when instructed to extinguished rolled up paper set ablaze on May 17, according to court records.
The corrections officer suffered injuries to his left knee and left elbow during the struggle with Quick, court records say.
Court records say after Quick was handcuffed, a homemade weapon consisted of two razor blades melted into plastic was found in his rear pocket.
Pennsylvania State Police at Wilkes-Barre charged Quick with aggravated assault and inmate in possession of a weapon.
Quick was sentenced in Monroe County Court to 26 to 52 years for an armed carjacking of a man in Mount Pocono and initiating a pursuit with Pocono Mountain Regional Police and state police that ended in a crash on Interstate 80 in East Stroudsburg on Oct. 16, 2015, according to published reports.
