ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. (WWTI) – St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua announced today in a press release, that Kaitlyn Cyrus, 24, and Jovannie Vega, 24, both of Massena, entered pleas today in the death of a 3-year-old child from November 28, 2023.
According to the press release, both defendants were arraigned today on one count of Aggravated Murder, Murder in the Second Degree, Manslaughter in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and Assault in the Second Degree.

Defendant Cyrus pled guilty to Murder in the Second Degree and Defendant Vega pled guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree.
DA Pasqua stated, “No amount of time in prison will ever rectify the tragic loss of life that happened in this case. There can never be true justice in a case like this one. This child will never experience a full and happy life. Hopefully, the decades these defendants will spend incarcerated will bring some peace to the family.”
In the press release, Judge Gregory P. Storie committed to sentence Cyrus to an indeterminate term of imprisonment with the NYS Department of Corrections with a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of lifetime imprisonment. He committed to sentence Vega to a determinate term of imprisonment with the NYS Department of Corrections of 25 years. Sentencing is scheduled for November 18, 2024, at 10 a.m.
