SPRINGVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public to identify human remains that were found east of Springville over the weekend.
A hiker found the remains on Saturday, Oct. 26, in a small canyon often referred to as “Springville Rock Canyon,” according to UCSO. The hiker told investigators he was climbing in steep terrain when “he came upon what he believed were human remains.”

Local law enforcement did not have any missing persons cases that may be connected to the remains, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials said “very little is known about the remains.”
“These remains do not appear to be recent, but they also do not appear to be historic,” the sheriff’s office said on social media.
Anyone with information that could help identify the remains has been asked to contact the Investigations Bureau of UCSO at 801-851-4010 and ask to speak with Detective Fuell.
There is no further information at this time.
This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as new information becomes available.
