BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One person died, and another was injured on Monday after a shooting at the Town and Country Apartments.
On September 30, at approximately 10:18 p.m., the Binghamton Police Department responded to building 2-8 at the apartment complex located at 100 Roberts Streets for a report of a male with a gunshot wound to his head.
Upon arrival, officers located 41-year-old Tyrell Norris of Binghamton in the apartment with a gunshot wound. Officers attempted lifesaving measures on Norris who was transported to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
While at the scene, officers were notified of a second gunshot victim. The 21-year-old male victim sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. He was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, their current investigation determined that a shooting had occurred in the parking lot. As a result, Norris, who was an uninvolved party, was struck by gunfire while inside of his residence.
