Lebanese authorities are resuming the investigation into the massive explosion in the Beirut port area in 2020.
The investigation has been on hold for two years, partly as a result of political pressure.
The explosion in Beirut in August 2020 was so powerful that it could be heard and felt in Cyprus, a full 200 kilometers away. At least 215 people lost their lives.
According to UN experts, the explosion in Beirut and its aftermath have highlighted systemic problems with governance and widespread corruption in Lebanon.
