Few would’ve predicted that Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick joining a win-now roster, would lose to No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels and No. 3 pick Drake Maye in his rookie season, but here we are.
Of the six quarterbacks drafted in the first round, here’s a look at the four who are playing:
No. 1 overall pick: Bears QB Caleb Williams
Williams posted a 65.3 passer rating over his first three games, a 122.8 over the next three and a 64.7 over the last three. And now, a midseason change at offensive coordinator just as the schedule gets exponentially harder.
No. 2 overall pick: Commanders QB Jayden Daniels
While still the runaway favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year, Daniels might be coming back down to earth. In a loss to the Steelers, he completed 17 of 34 passes for 202 yards and a 68.5 passer rating.
No. 3 overall pick: Patriots QB Drake Maye
Maye hasn’t been spectacular, but his play against the Bears on Sunday looked like what any team reasonably wants from a rookie: 15-for-25 passing, 184 yards, a touchdown, an interception, a 79.4 passer rating and a win. He was sharp on two fourth-quarter scoring drives to ice the game.
No. 12 overall pick: Broncos QB Bo Nix
Nix gave the Broncos a shot at spoiling the Chiefs’ undefeated season by driving them to a 35-yard field-goal attempt with one second left, but linebacker Leo Chenal blocked it for the win.
