The Westwood Public Library (WPL) hosted a Princess Party with Elsa and Moana to add a little magic to winter break for local families.
The event began at 11am in the Community Meeting Room in the main branch. Little girls of all ages dressed in a variety of princess costumes, with the most popular selections including the dresses of both Elsa and Moana.
The program began with the introductions of both princesses. The children in attendance gasped or squealed with excitement as the two made their grand entrances. Once they had both entered the room, the took a seat before the crowd. Elsa explained to the young attendees everything that she had planned for them during this princess party.
She kicked off the party with a reading of Big Golden Book’s “Frozen” story by RH Disney. The children were delighted to engage in this retelling of one of their favorite films. The snow queen proceeded to ask the children a variety of questions about the story, pausing at opportune times to check their comprehension as well as to see what they remembered from the movie. The children were excited to share their answers and fun facts about the film. Moana held the book so Elsa was able to read with ease, then moved the book around to ensure that all of the attendees were able to see the illustrations.
Once the book was completed, the princesses moved into the sing-a-long portion of the party. Elsa encouraged all of the attendees to sing along from the hit single from “Frozen,” entitled, “Let It Go.” She taught the children how to “shoot an icy blast,” from their finger tips, along with other fun dance moves to use while they belted out the lyrics to the hit.
Once the song ended, Moana taught everyone how to play freeze dance, and played the hit single from “Moana,” entitled “How Far I’ll Go.” The children moved, grooved, and sang along to this tune, ensuring to freeze whenever the music stopped.
Finally, the event concluded with a meet and greet with the two princesses. Children were excited to chat with royalty, discuss the movies, their favorite part of the events, and pose for photographs. Each child left with a smile and an autograph from Elsa and Moana.
