SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Thursday Utah! It’s been another pleasant day around the Beehive State with partly sunny skies and temps in the 70s and 80s.
Our slow-moving upper level low will finally begin to move inland across California and into the southwestern half of the country Friday, eventually spreading some moisture north into southwestern Utah and possibly the Utah mountain spine by Friday afternoon and evening. The best chance for isolated thunderstorms will be over the higher terrain of Utah and southern and central Utah. Isolated storm potential exists for the Wasatch Front as well, but there’s a better shot down south. Due to the slower and farther south progression of the low, we will see overall drier conditions toward the end of the workweek with temperatures only cooling a few degrees on Friday.
Large booms felt and heard throughout Salt Lake Valley – Here’s what we know
This pesky upper-level low looks to actually slow down now over the southern part of the state into Saturday, leading to an increased chance for scattered showers and storms on Saturday, especially for areas east of I-15. If this system slows down any more, we may have to increase those rain chances on Saturday statewide. Highs will begin to warm up into the 80s and eventually back near 90° moving into next week for southern Utah. Highs will be in the 70s with morning lows in the 40s and 50s for northern Utah, and we will just have to keep an eye on trends with the movement of the upper-low!
