Pizza Hut to reopen at new digs at dinnertime

Curious Maricopans this morning asked us why a yellow sign on the door of Pizza Hut read, “UNSAFE TO OCCUPY. DO NOT ENTER. CONDEMNED,” and warned that it was a crime to walk through the front door.

While the sign posted by the City of Maricopa Development Services Department seemed daunting, it has already been removed following the restaurant passing its final inspection earlier today.

In fact, more than a month after moving into its new, downsized storefront at 21101 N. John Wayne Parkway, Suite E102, Pizza Hut is finally ready to start selling stuffed-crust pies in Maricopa once again.

Area Supervisor Lupita Morales told InMaricopa the restaurant will officially open at 4 p.m.

“We’re waiting for [city officials] to give us the permit and we’re good to go. We’re getting ready,” Morales said.

Inside, the store looked mostly ready for business this morning. Deflated balloons and empty menu signs sat among stacks of pizza boxes at the entrance.

The pizzeria moved into the smaller space four doors down from its previous location in late November. At the time, the store owners were hoping to open by early December.

And Barro’s Pizza last month confirmed it plans to move into the Hut’s old suite this spring. General Manager Mike Hull told InMaricopa the pizzeria was looking forward to a larger kitchen and patio dining area.
