One goal! Life Springs provides football field for community

Local volunteers turned the inside of the Life Springs walking track into a practice field for football by installing goal posts. Chuck Jeffrey of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) worked with others to provide the local practice place for young football players.

“We wanted to create a place for local youth to practice,” he said. “The materials were all donated. I told the company what the items were for and they sent it at no cost – not even the shipping cost. Johnny Lawson of M&M Construction from Alabama helped get them measured out correctly and installed. An auger was even provided to dig the holes for the goal posts.”

More than 20 bags of concrete were used to secure the new goal posts at the field.

“We as a church are a community that invites all people to experience and live out a life of meaning and purpose through a deeply committed relationship with Jesus Christ,” said Life Springs pastor Alex McGinnis. “All that we have been given and have built is for that purpose.”

Chuck is working on getting pads for the posts to protect players and getting the field lined.

“I love that there is football movement in Pike. Volunteerism is how youth sports flourish. I am excited about football’s future in Pike,” said Parks & Recreation Authority chair Chris Childress.
