On the fourth anniversary of the occupation of Shushi, Aliyev issues  new threats against Armenia

ArmInfo. On the fourth anniversary of the occupation of Shushi, Azerbaijani president Ilham
Aliyev, the permanent leader, has once again issued threats against
Armenia and sought to portray the outcome of the 44-day
Nagorno-Karabakh war as solely his own achievement.

He then boasted about the forceful resolution of this conflict,
emphasizing the impunity he felt. "Although many countries standing
behind Armenia tried to pressure us into accepting this occupation
through various means, the Azerbaijani people remember very well how
the great powers and the mediators who allegedly tried to resolve the
Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, repeatedly claimed that there was no
military solution.  Their plans were not to resolve the issue or end
the occupation, but keep Azerbaijani lands under Armenian occupation
forever," stated Aliyev, who had occupied sovereign Armenian
territories. He went on to accuse "Western admirers" of Armenia of
trying to portray Armenia as a "dove of peace."

" For 30 years, all the Minsk Group co-chairs, have supported
Armenia: some provided weapons for free, some gave money, and some
offered both weapons and money, while giving political support to
maintain the occupation of "our lands," Aliyev continued. He bragged
about the aggression and de-Armenization of Artsakh, acknowledging
that his regime is gradually erasing traces of Armenian presence on
centuries-old Armenian territory following ethnic cleansing.

Then Aliyev began openly threatening Armenia. "However, there is one
question, and we should not forget that today the anti-Azerbaijani
forces, who do not want to accept the current situation, the
Islamophobes and Azerbaijanophobes in some Western capitals, are
encouraging Armenia towards a new war. This could be a complete
tragedy for the Armenian state. I have repeatedly tried to explain to
the Armenian side in my official speeches and during our
interactions, that they should avoid this path. Armenia needs to
abandon its policy of arming itself. I have stated this many times,
and they should heed my words. It is not too late to stop, they will
never be able to compete with us," said Aliyev confidently, seemingly
convinced that cargo planes with weapons can only land at Baku
airport daily. Additionally, he declared that the events surrounding
Artsakh are "not just a defeat for Armenia, but a bitter and
humiliating defeat for those who stand behind it."
