North Little Rock dispatch center adopts new software to assist with 911 response

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The city of North Little Rock is making an effort to improve the process for emergency calls with a newly-adopted software.

Officials with the city said the web-based software, Prepared911, will provide 911 operators and first responders with access to live video, photos, GPS location and other resources to assist during emergencies. Officials noted that callers must consent for video to be taken.

The software will also provide translation and transcription services to assist with callers who do not speak English, officials said. The translated text will appear on the dispatcher’s screen as the caller speaks and dispatchers can type responses into the system, which will read aloud to the caller.

Prepared911 will also summarize calls and highlight key points, including suspect descriptions, vehicle information, and the type of incident, officials said.
