Mother, two children in critical condition after domestic assault in Bridgeport, Conn.: police

A mother and two children are in critical condition after they were assaulted in an apartment in Bridgeport during a domestic incident on Wednesday morning, police said. A suspect has been arrested.

Police officers responded to an apartment in the 2400 block of Main Street around 10 a.m. when they received a report that an adult and children had been assaulted.

When officers arrived, they detained a man who was walking away from the area and more officers went into the apartment building, where they found a 33-year-old mother and her children, a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old, suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. 

All three were taken to area hospitals and admitted. Police said all three are in critical condition.

The victims were “brutally assaulted,” according to police who described the injuries as blunt-force trauma. 

Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Abdulrahim Sulaiman, of Bridgeport. 

Sulaiman was arrested and transported to the Bridgeport Police Department. 

Police said this was a domestic assault and the suspect knows the victims.

The charges are pending.
