Talented young performers from across the area will take the stage in “Beyond the Rainbow: Live in Living Color,” a vibrant musical revue celebrating the power of music to bring people together. This highly anticipated production will be held at the Dover-Sherborn High School Mudge Auditorium on January 18, 19, 24, and 25.
Presented by Open Fields, a community theater group known for its dedication to cultivating artistic talent and offering memorable performances, this year’s show promises to delight audiences of all ages. With nearly 90 performers ranging from grades 2 to 12, “Beyond the Rainbow: Live in Living Color” builds on the success of past productions, including last season’s sold-out run of “Grease.” This season also marks the 25th year of Open Fields since its founding in 1999 by Keith and Tina Greenfield with local families and artists. Producing 34 productions featuring thousands of kids and adults, Open Fields has been a pillar of helping “young talent grow” across its hometown of Dover and the surrounding communities.
The revue showcases a dynamic blend of musical styles, from chart-topping pop and timeless rock classics to show-stopping Broadway numbers. Under the expert music direction of Dan Snape and Isabella Cruz, and the lively choreography of Laurel Conrad and Sarah Clancy, the young cast will bring to life iconic songs from musicals like “Hamilton”, “Wicked”, “The Color Purple”, and “The Wizard of Oz”, alongside hits from celebrated artists such as John Legend, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Billie Eilish and more.
Accompanied by a live band of seasoned musicians, these performances will create an unforgettable night of entertainment. The show’s universal themes of growing up, deep bonds of friendships across ages, and celebrating a community promise to resonate with viewers of all ages.
