Thalia Irizarry led all scorers with 19 points as the Wyoming Valley West girls basketball team held off Berwick 46-39 in Saturday’s only Wyoming Valley Conference matchup, a game rescheduled from Dec. 20.
Anya Richet added 17 points for the Spartans, who picked up their second win over Berwick in a five-day span.
Carly Post had 15 points to lead Berwick, while Abby Calarco added 10 points.
Crestwood 76, East Stroudsburg North 20
The Comets had four players in double figures in a dominant win over East Stroudsburg North.
Jackie Gallagher led the group with 18 points. Charlie Hiller, Kendall Petrosky and Kate Gallagher added 12 points each for Crestwood, with Petrosky also dishing out six assists.
Northwest 66, Hanover Area 26
In a clash of former conference foes, Northwest picked up the win over Hanover Area.
Ashlyn Hermanofski led the Rangers with 20 points. Ali Miner added 13 and Ava Ruckle had 11 for Northwest.
Caitlin Vigorito led Hanover Area with nine points on three made three-pointers.
BOYS BASKETBALL
MMI Prep 36, Benton 24
In a low-scoring game, the Preppers were able to find enough offense to pick up the non-league win.
Nate Kringe had 17 points to lead MMI Prep, with Nick Pantages adding 12 points.
Nolan Bardva had 21 of Benton’s 24 points.
Northwest 66, CM Vo-Tech 36
Josh Miner and Ryan Miner had 17 points apiece in Northwest’s victory.
Jace McCoy added 10 points for the Rangers.
GIRLS SWIMMING
Williamsport 108, Hazleton Area 62
Milana Daiute was honored for earning her 1,000th career point, but Hazleton Area couldn’t overcome Williamsport in the pool.
Daiute took part in Hazleton Area’s first-place 400 free relay team, and took second place in three other events. Lia Ochs won the 200 and 500 free races for the Cougars.
Dallas 104, Pittston Area 79
The Mountaineers won 10 total events to hold off Pittston Area and remain undefeated in the Wyoming Valley Conference with a win on Friday night.
Erika Doran (200 free and 100 fly), Peyton Stauffer (2oo IM and 100 back) and Lydia Gonzales (500 free and 100 breaststroke) won two individual events each for Dallas.
Kate O’Hearn won the 50 free for Pittston Area, and the Patriots also won the 200 free relay.
BOYS SWIMMING
Hazleton Area 88, Williamsport 79
The Cougars’ depth helped them prevail over Williamsport despite winning just two events.
Nicholas Pop won the 500 free for Hazleton Area, and the Cougars brought home a win in the 400 free relay to close out the meet.
Dallas 73, Pittston Area 58
Nicholas Belfino (200 free and 100 fly), Chase Kresge (200 IM and 500 free) and Eric Kuzma (50 free and 100 back) won two individual events to capture the meet for Dallas.
Pittston Area’s lone victory came in the 200 free relay.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Catholic 94, Wilkes 64
The Cardinals broke the game open in the second half and cruised to a win over Wilkes.
Lucas Lesko led the Colonels with 18 points and Jack Argento kicked in 17 points.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Catholic 75, Wilkes 28
The Colonels couldn’t muster up much offense on the road, falling to the 20th-ranked Cardinals.
Julianna Askins had 10 points to lead Wilkes. The Colonels fell to 0-17 on the year and 0-10 in the Landmark Conference with the loss.
WRESTLING
Wilkes’ Butka makes history
Cameron Butka set a new Wilkes record with his 122nd career victory as the Colonels split a pair of matches at the John Reese Duals.
The Colonels fell 32-18 to Ithaca and beat Oneonta 36-15. Butka broke the school record with a tech fall in the first dual and added to his new record with a win in the second dual.
Lycoming 25, King’s 14
The Monarchs celebrated Senior Day but couldn’t topple Lycoming.
Shane Kibler won a tech fall for King’s at 149 pounds. Noah Clawson (141), Frankie Theroux (184) and Jake Bobersky (197) each won decisions for the Monarchs.

King’s 99, Moravian 25
Noah Dunbar captured two individual events, the 50 free and the 100 fly, to lead King’s to a win.
Matthew Maciejczyk (200 free), Christopher Maciejczyk (200 back) and Billy Hanson (100 free) also won events for the Monarchs.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Moravian 92, King’s 37
The Monarchs couldn’t keep up in their final meet before next month’s MAC Swimming Championships, losing to Moravian.
Makenna Unvarsky won the 100 freestyle for King’s.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
King’s drops two
The Monarchs fell in four sets to Buffalo State and were swept by Elmira to cap off a doubleheader.
Logan Dougherty led King’s in both matches, tallying 15 kills in the Buffalo State match and eight kills in the loss to Elmira.
