YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The owner of a Youngstown restaurant has published a cookbook of his family’s most popular recipes.
Alex Zorcih is the owner of Yosteria, an Italian Restaurant in a 112-year-old house on Valley Street in the Smokey Hollow neighborhood near YSU.
His new cookbook is titled Tradizione. It’s 80 recipes that come from his Italian relatives, from pasta to seafood, to salads, to sweets. There are also recipes specific to Christmas, Easter, and Sunday dinner.
“My personal favorite is Christmas Eve. We’ve got all the feast of the seven fishes. You got your smelts, your cod, your baccala, even some fun stuff like salads that you wouldn’t even think of. We threw in some family favorites like my grandma’s Bucci’s pizzas,” said Zorcih.
Many of his older relatives cooked with a pinch of this and a pinch of that — one of the hardest things was translating their recipes into measurable amounts.
The book is available on the Yosteria website. Lariccia’s, Giant Eagle Liberty, and Barnes and Noble will start carrying it next week for $35.
