Local line dance teacher joins Fox News for segment

(WIVT/WBGH) – A local line dance teacher recently grapevine, weaved, and kicked her way onto national television.

Karen Hayes was recently invited onto Fox and Friends, Fox News’s weekend morning series, to show its anchors how to line dance on National Dance Day. With only two days to plan, she taught them three basic steps live on the show. She was joined in New York City by a big group of friends and students participating and cheering her on.

Hayes has been teaching line dancing for over 30 years.

She says dancing is a great way to exercise and meet new people.

“It one of those things where you’re having a rough day, you’re stressed out, you get on the dance floor and you just let all of that go when you have fun,” said Hayes.

Hayes travels all over to teach classes. She teaches weekly on Tuesday nights at the Horseheads American Legion and Wednesday nights at Touch of Texas in the Town of Dickinson.

Hayes has a Facebook page called Line Dancing with Karen that has more information on her classes and upcoming events.
