BROOKFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Warrior Turf Foundation is taking steps to make a turf field a reality for Brookfield athletics in the future.
Chairman Randy Clark, who also serves as the Warrior’s head football coach and maintenance supervisor, said the non-school affiliated committee was formed to head up fundraising efforts
“We’re not looking for any school money, we’re looking to have this done,” Clark said. “We’re happy with what we got, we’re happy to be here but it’s now it’s time to take the next step.”
Along with the committee, Clark says they will be joined by coaches, teachers and local residents to brainstorm local fundraisers and corporate fundraisers.
“What our community is going to learn and needs to know is that children are going to benefit from this from here year on out,” Clark said. “It’s something that I think the kids deserve, the community deserve and I think it’s going to be something nice for everybody.”
They feel that the field upgrade would not just benefit football, but highlight the potential uses for nearly every sport and extracurricular activity at the school.
“It’s going to be a positive for the community, I think we’ve got a whole lot more events up here,” Clark said. “I even heard the principal [say] one day, once we got this done that we maybe could start holding graduation up here.”
Clark also believes this fundraising effort could in fact save the Brookfield school district and community around $200,000 in the future upkeep of the field.
