NEW SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — A New Springfield family is struggling after several of their family members were in a fiery crash on Friday night.
Six-year-old Steve Desimone, his mother Kayla Freed, and Kayla’s brothers, 5 and 13, were all severely injured in an accident on U.S. Route 422 in Pulaski. The car was hit head-on by another driver.
Some of their injuries included broken bones and a brain bleed, and one of them is now paralyzed.
Steve’s cousin Keith Stump says it’s a struggle for their family.
“It’s been hard. Our family’s been very worried. We’re trying to support them as best as we can,” Stump said.
Stump says his cousin is slowly healing, but it’ll be a long road to recovery for all of them.
