Lady Pirates softball undefeated 4-0 in playoffs

In round two of the Georgia High School Association state playoffs, the Lady Pirates (23-6) blasted past the Ringgold Tigers Oct. 22 as they defeated them with a walk-off 8-6 victory in game one and an offensive blowout win at 26-13 in game two.

The Lady Pirates advanced to the Elite 8 and will face Appling County (22-1) in Columbus at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30. The team will have a special send-off around campus on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.

The winner of the Oct. 30 playoff game will face the winner of the Miller Grove (19-2) vs. Stephens County (21-6) game at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 in Columbus.

In game one Oct. 22 against the Ringgold Tigers, the game was tied at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Linzie Davis homered to left field to score two runs and secure the win. Pike had 14 hits and eight runs (six earned) in the game with Aubree Reese going 3-for-4 at bat.

Kerrah Foster earned the win for the Pirates as she gave up 10 hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking four.

In game two against Ringgold, the Lady Pirates were hot offensively with a 26-13 victory. Maliyah Holmes hit two homeruns in the game (in the third and fourth innings). Pike had a total of 21 hits. Austin King doubled in the first inning and homered to center field in the fifth inning. Maliyah Holmes, Angie Litten, Aubree Reese, Maya Gales and Kerrah Foster each had three hits in the win.
