Pearl City native and Kamehameha alumnus Kai Kamaka III was eliminated from the PFL featherweight semifinals in Washington, D.C. on Friday night with a split decision loss to Brendan Loughnane.
Loughnane won 29-28, 28-29, 30-27 on the judges scorecards.
Kamaka drops to 14-6-1 seeing his five fight winning streak come to an end.
Loughnane the PFL featherweight champion in 2022, improves to 30-5 and will face Timur Khizriev in the finals.

In the final minute of a close first round, Loughnane landed a heel kick to Kamaka’s body and landed a flurry of punches, but Kamaka survived the rest of the round.
Earlier in the PFL 9 card, Pearl City’s Ray Cooper III lost to Mukhamed Berkhamov via split the decision. The judges scores the fight 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 in favor of Berkhamov.
