WILKES-BARRE — A man apprehended on a judge’s bench warrant was found concealing a handcuff key inside his mouth.
William Joseph Breha, 46, was picked up by Wilkes-Barre police on a bench warrant and taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on Jan. 21, according to court records.
During the intake process, Breha was body-scanned, revealing a key concealed in his mouth, court records say.
The key was identified as a handcuff key.
Breha was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Thomas Malloy of Wilkes-Barre on a charge of inmate in possession of contraband or weapon. He remained jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $100,000 bail.
A county judge issued what is called a capias warrant, or bench warrant, for failing to appear for a sentencing hearing on drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy charges on Nov. 27.
