HONOLULU (KHON2) — A cold front passing north of the state has started to increase showers Thursday night through Friday night. Most of the showers are not expected to be heavy, but downpours can not completely ruled out over Maui County and Hawaii Island. Trade winds return this weekend with dry conditions. Another cold front could bring kona winds and numerous showers next Wednesday and Thursday.
Tonight: Breezy northerly winds are expected. Showers will increase on the windward sides of Maui and the Big Island. Thunderstorms are possible, but mostly offshore.
This Weekend: Drier and cooler weather with breezy northerly winds. Fire weather conditions are possible.
Early Next Week: Trade winds return with a slight chance of afternoon showers.
Later Next Week: Another weather system may bring more widespread showers and thunderstorms.
