ArmInfo. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is in favor of resolving regional issues by regional states and
considers involvement of external forces from outside the region unacceptable. This was stated by Aliyev at a meeting held today with Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran Ali Akbar Ahmadian, who arrived in Baku on a visit.
As reported by the media, the meeting focused on the importance of developing the
North-South transport corridor, as well as the trilateral cooperation
format between Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran. Additionally, discussions
were held on the "Araz Corridor" project and the construction of
bridges and road transport infrastructure along the Araz River. Both
sides recognized the importance of this project for developing
regional transport connectivity.
Projects for the construction of hydroelectric power plants along the
Araz River and the unification of power transmission lines between
Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran were covered as well. According to Baku
media, Ahmadian underlined the unmatched closeness of cultural,
historical, religious and civilizational relations between Azerbaijan
and Iran. He also congratulated Azerbaijan on its success in
liberating its territories from occupation and restoring territorial
integrity and sovereignty. It should be noted that the head of
Iran's SNSC is expected to visit Armenia today. He is expected to
meet with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
