IDENTIFIED: Man killed after 59 shots fired in Fresno named by police

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Police Department identified a 35-year-old man who officers say was shot and killed Sunday night in southwest Fresno after 59 rounds were fired.

Police say at 10:49 p.m. officers responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations near Myers Street and Arthur Avenue. ShotSpotter registered three separate instances of gunfire: an initial burst of 44 rounds, followed by 13 rounds, and a final activation of 2 rounds for a total of 59.

Investigators say the victim, 35-year-old Patrick Dixon Jr., was found in the backyard of a home suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Dixon was transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno where he later died. Police say two vehicles and a home were hit by gunfire.
