The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 5, reported receipts of 67,988 head compared to 35,250 head a week ago and 55,141 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 25,091 head, 1,325 to 1,650 lbs., 192.00 to 201.00 (199.48); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,056 head, 1,300 to 1,632 lbs., 195.00 to 200.00 (196.57); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,500 head, 1,220 to 1,565 lbs., 195.00 to 197.00 (196.26). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 2,263 head, 1,425 to 1,550 lbs., 200.00 to 201.35 (200.78).
