(WKBN) — Giant Eagle has entered into an agreement to sell all GetGo stores, the company announced Monday morning.
The company sold all of its GetGo convenience stories to Canada-based Couche-Tard, an international company that works in the convenience store and fuel industry.
Giant Eagle says the move enables the company to focus greater resources on the enhancement of its core supermarket and pharmacy business.
“The sale will strengthen Giant Eagle, better enabling us to prioritize investments and resources, further bolstering our position as a leading regional grocer and pharmacy with a well-known brand that delivers value for customers and Team Members,” the company stated in a release.
Despite the change of hands, GetGo stores will continue to operate as part of Giant Eagle until the transaction closes, at which point the companies have agreed to work together to continue the MyPerks reward program with the possibility of expansion.
Couche-Tard states it plans to retain all GetGo stores, operations and support team members.
The sale is expected to close sometime next year, pending FTC approval and customary closing conditions.
