An early morning crash sent a 66-year-old woman to the hospital with serious injuries today.
Maricopa Police Department responded to The Wells plaza where the woman was hit by a car just before 7 a.m.
According to MPD, a car made a left turn onto Porter Road when exiting the shopping center from Applegate Road. The car struck an unidentified elderly woman who was riding a mobility scooter in the crosswalk.

MPD spokesperson Monica Williams said police cited the driver, who was not identified, for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
