Of all the demeaning labels assigned over the years to college basketball’s NIT — Nobody’s Interested Tournament, National Insignificant Tournament, Not Invited Tournament — a new moniker is now in order. Call it the National Independent Tournament. It no longer is a predetermined hometown event.
