Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels? Notre Dame or Ohio State? Here’s how you voted

Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams did a lot right this season. Did a lot wrong, too. Did a lot of scraping himself off the turf while looking around frantically for his elbows and kneecaps, as well.

He earned some respect, for sure.

But in this week’s ‘‘Polling Place,’’ your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, we wanted to know whether Bears fans rather would have Williams for the next 10 years or one of the other rookie QBs from the ballyhooed 2024 draft class.

‘‘Jayden Daniels is better than Williams,’’ @63champs commented.

Most, however, stuck by the No. 1 overall pick.

‘‘I see I’m not the only Bears fan with obvious bias toward Caleb here,’’ @MawDouglas wrote.

Next, we asked whether the expanded College Football Playoff has made people more enthused about the college postseason.

‘‘Just need some more competitive games,’’ @RonaldVoigt4 offered.

Last, we asked for your pick for the college championship game Monday between Ohio State and Notre Dame.

From @DonDizzz: ‘‘OSU wins, unfortunately.’’

And @tom_horseplayer: ‘‘I hate both teams — ND a lot more.’’

On to the polls:

Poll No. 1: If you could roll with a QB from the 2024 NFL draft class for the next 10 years, whom would it be?

It’s time for this week’s “Polling Place.” Let us hear from you! Selected comments will appear in Sunday's paper.

Upshot: Who needs Daniels, anyway? Other than running away with the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, QB-ing the Commanders into the divisional round of the playoffs and basically performing like an absolute star, he hasn’t done much of anything.

Poll No. 2: Has an expanded, 12-team playoff heightened your interest in college football’s postseason?

Upshot: Let the old sticks-in-the-mud complain about all the great traditions lost in the name of a pro-style championship playoff. Nobody’s listening. There’s no going back. Besides, this seems to be working pretty dang well.

Poll No. 3: Who’s your pick to win the college football championship game Monday in Atlanta?

Upshot: The Buckeyes are the favorites, but the Irish have a real chance. If Notre Dame does win, perhaps Ohio State will get some revenge down the line by luring away alumnus Marcus Freeman. Ooh, hadn’t thought about that one yet?
