“Shandy in the Graveyard” — Panchiko ft. billy woods

Panchiko has released their newest single, “Shandy in the Graveyard,” off their upcoming album “Ginkgo,” set to be released in April. The song is a hazy collection of sounds — magnetic harmonies, dusky vocals and swirling guitar melodies. Indie-rapper billy woods adds a gritty edge to the track, a distinct combination that creates a genre-bending song.

“Inside Out” — Beach Fossils

Beach Fossils have covered Duster’s 1998 song “Inside Out,” turning the slowcore anthem into something a little more modern. The intimate, dreamy sound of the original song is made lighter; the gentle guitar melody is a little clearer, and the band’s voices are a little louder. Beach Fossils still maintain the song’s authentic essence, creating a beautiful tribute to the original song.

“ONANON” — Killen.

Killen. is a producer-turned-singer/songwriter and recently released his newest single, “ONANON.” The track is a fun, lighthearted single, driven by an energetic tempo and a thumping beat. The song incorporates elements of house music and electronic sounds to create a whirlwind of energy, perfect for letting loose on the dance floor.

“Murder During Drug Traffic” — Boldly James, RichGains

Boldly James and RichGains once again combine forces for their newest album, “Murder During Drug Traffic.” The result is a sleek and refined album, enhanced by the slick production and James’ mellowed-out voice. The album is smooth and unhurried, with James ruminating about relationships and his upbringing without ever feeling frantic.

“Party People” — Rose Gray

Rose Gray’s newest single is a lively blend of club beats and hyperpop elements. Fast-paced electronic rhythms are met with Gray’s dreamlike voice, capturing the ecstatic thrill of a night out. Euphoric energy courses throughout the song, creating an anthem for the true party girl.

“Smile” — Morgan Wallen

Wallen’s latest single feels a bit like a filler tune, not providing a whole lot of inspiration. The country star closed out 2024 with his third single of the year, a soft and melancholic song that ultimately doesn’t build to anything more. “Smile” was accompanied by a New Year’s Eve-themed music video in which Wallen pulls out the ballad as a surprise on a late-night show.

“WHAM” — Lil Baby

Lil Baby’s fourth studio album was released Friday night with a diverse list of features, including Glorilla, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Future and more. Following up his 2022 album “It’s Only Me,” “WHAM” is a worthy sequel. Lil Baby heavily teased the album, hinting at its features and claiming he has acquired 21 Savage’s “hardest verse ever” on track 13, “Outfit.” The record works well, with each track bringing a unique flow to the collective project.

“Location” — Zerb, Wiz Khalifa

Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Zerb and Khalifa’s new club single “Location” is a vibrant track that showcases the best of each artist. The rapper’s vocals pair well with the ebb and flow of Zerb’s EDM style. Though slightly repetitive in sound, the song is very cohesive and an enjoyable collaboration.

“Floppy Disks” — The Alchemist

Known for literally using floppy disks in his beat-making, it was only fitting that this be the name of The Alchemist’s next single. Bringing the artist’s authentic sound, “Floppy Disks” is a quick and enjoyable track for anyone who loves that retro music vibe. Filled with clever lyrics, the DJ is embracing his rap side more and more with this old but new single.

“what3ver” — redveil

The rapper, who performed at Foellinger Auditorium in fall 2023, has put a solid end to his musical year in the form of “what3ver.” The ethereal vibe of the song is matched well by redveil’s powerful sound. The music video accompanies the track perfectly, pairing the artist’s yearning lyrics with a hazy, colorful visual.
