Pike County kindergarteners created their own balloons to display in a special pre-Thanksgiving Day parade at the primary school featuring Major League Baseball player Hunter Strickland along with his family as grand marshal.
The Balloons Over Pike also featured the Pike County High School marching band and cheerleaders as well as the middle school teachers and primary school teachers who showed off their baton twirling skills.
Students learned STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Math) skills as they planned and put together their own unique balloons for the parade. The weather was cold and windy but all the kindergarteners still enjoyed showing off their creations to a large audience of parents and loved ones as well as all of the first and second graders at the school.
