Armenia`s authorities want to hold primaries in Parakar community similarly to Gyumri primaries

ArmInfo. In the Parakar community of the Armavir region of Armenia, a problem arose with the election of the head of the community. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan wrote about this on his Facebook account.

According to him, there is a high probability that an acting head of the enlarged community will be appointed in the near future. The Prime Minister proposed holding primary elections in this regard. Self- nominated candidates must submit their applications from December 28 to 12:00 on January 2, 2025. "This means that every citizen of the country can put forward their candidacy," Pashinyan said, setting forth a number of conditions. In particular, a self-nominated candidate must be a member of the ruling Civil Contract party or an associate of the party. The candidate must also be registered with the local community for at least six months. To participate in the election process, candidates will have to submit these documents, as well as a photograph, biographical information, a short motivation letter, and a passport extract. The documents must
be sent to the e-mail address info@civilcontract.am. On January 3, the board of the Civil Contract party will discuss the submitted package and register the candidates. In addition to considering the list of candidates, political expediency will also be taken into account.

Pashinyan stressed that after the registration of candidates, a
preliminary vote (primary) will be held in Parakar on January 11-13, following the example of Gyumri, based on the results of which the winner will be appointed acting head of the community. "With 99% accuracy, it can be assumed that he will head the Civil Contract party list in the early elections," the head of the Armenian government said.
