Clouds will increase as we move into the afternoon, with a spotty shower or two possible later today. A heavy shower or two is also possible in far north-central and northern Arkansas, with highs in the mid-50s.
Showers will taper off tonight as we welcome the next cold front. This front will bring an arctic air mass Saturday night, which will last through Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Highs for many areas will stay below freezing during this time. Remember the P’s: People, Pipes, and Pets.
Dry air will also settle in next week. We are monitoring a storm system that has the potential to bring a rare southern snow to portions of the Gulf Coast. As of now, this means moisture will stay south of Arkansas, with possibly some snowflakes in far southern Arkansas. Overall, dry air should prevail once the system passes to our south, from Tuesday through Wednesday of next week.
