Local roundup: Wyoming Area boys outlast Wyoming Seminary in double OT

Luke Kopetchny went off for 34 points to lead a trio of Warriors in double figures as Wyoming Area weathered two overtime periods to beat Wyoming Seminary 75-65, remaining undefeated in Division 2.

Lukas Burakiewicz chipped in 17 points and Anthony DeLucca finished with 13 for Wyoming Area, who improved to 7-0 in Division 2.

Antek Evan led Wyoming Seminary with 26 points. Brian Leahy added 15 points for the Blue Knights.

Tunkhannock 43, Hanover Area 40 (OT)

The Tigers came roaring back to force overtime, then pulled out the victory over Hanover Area.

Bode Lukasavage had 14 points to lead Tunkhannock, while Caden Newswanger added 12, including two of the team’s five points in overtime.

Noah Dewey had 21 points for Hanover Area, leading all scorers.

Wilkes-Barre Area 65, Wyoming Valley West 64

The Wolfpack went right down to the wire for a win over Wyoming Valley West.

David Jannuzzi had 28 points to lead Wilkes-Barre Area. Mike Keating chipped in 18 points.

Lemar Weatherspoon was the high scorer for the Spartans with 20 points.

Crestwood 51, Nanticoke Area 32

The Comets ran out to a quick lead and secured the win over Nanticoke Area.

Kell Edwards led Crestwood with 11 points. The Comets led 19-7 after one quarter and 31-16 at the half.

Mathias Mitchell had 14 points to lead Nanticoke Area.

BOYS SWIMMING

Tunkhannock 125, Lake-Lehman 57

The Tigers came out on top in a battle of the last two unbeatens in the Wyoming Valley Conference.

Josh Gaudet (200 IM, 100 fly) and Jayden Baltrusaitis (50, 100 free) won two individual events each for Tunkhannock.

Connor Runquist won the 200 and 500 free races for Lake-Lehman.

Pittston Area 80, Wyoming Area 40

Tanner Osborn (200 and 500 free) and Jake Grzech (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) won two individual events apiece to lead Pittston Area to a rivalry win.

Jon Cortez won the 100 free for Wyoming Area, and the Warriors also picked up wins in the 200 and 400 free relays.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Lake-Lehman 89, Tunkhannock 86

The Black Knights were able to edge out Tunkhannock to improve to 5-1 in conference meets.

Hailey Bond (50 and 200 free), Karissa Legaspi (100 fly and 100 breaststroke) and Hannah Kuhar (100 back and 100 free) were the big individual winners for Lake-Lehman.

Miranda Anderson won the 200 IM and Sarah DeMarco won the diving competition for Tunkhannock.

Wyoming Area 114, Pittston Area 72

The Warriors won 10 out of 12 events to continue their strong run in conference meets, taking down Pittston Area.

Bree Harry (200 free, 100 back), Ava Menditto (200 IM, 100 fly) and Ameriana Walker (50 and 100 free) each won two individual events for Wyoming Area.

Kate O’Hearn won the diving portion of the meet for Pittston Area.
