Armenian para-skier wins bronze at 2025 Winter Universiade in Italy

ArmInfo. Para-skier Garik Melkonyan, representing Armenia, won a bronze medal at the 2025 
Winter Universiade in Turin, Italy.  As reported by the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MONKS), Melkonyan competed under the guidance of Artur Mikaelyan, the head coach of the Armenian 
national ski team.  

Armenia has eight more athletes competing in 
figure skating, snowboarding, alpine skiing and cross- country skiing 
at the Universiade. The Armenian delegation is led by Hovhannes 
Gabrielyan, President of the University Sports Federation  of 
Armenia.  According to the department, the Winter World University 
Games has around 3,000 delegates from  55 countries. Figure skating 
competitions will begin on January 16, and the games will continue 
until January 23.
