JACKSON TWP. — An inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas died at a local hospital where he was taken for injuries sustained in a fight with another inmate last month.
According to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Manuel Morales, 66, died at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center on Monday.
Morales was taken to the hospital for injuries he sustained in a fight with another inmate on Dec. 25.
Morales was serving a one-to-five year sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Erie County. He arrived at SCI-Dallas on Feb. 27, 2024.
Pennsylvania State Police at Wilkes-Barre are investigating.
The cause and manner of death for Morales will be determined by the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office.
