Kona winds take over Thursday, return this weekend

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Fairly typical trade wind weather is expected for much of the week. The exception will be Thursday and Friday when light and variable winds take over. Showers will be confined to windward areas. Trades are set to return this weekend.

Tuesday & Wednesday:

Expect lighter winds: Trade winds will gradually weaken over the next couple of days.
Mostly dry: Expect mostly sunny skies with some showers possible in windward and mountain areas at night.

Thursday & Friday:

Increased rain chances: A cold front will approach, bringing more clouds and rain.
Possible thunderstorms: There’s a chance of thunderstorms, and some heavy rain could lead to localized flooding.

Weekend:

Quieter weather: The front will move away, and conditions will become calmer.
Lingering showers: Some showers may continue on Saturday, but they should be light.
Trade winds return: Trade winds are expected to return by the weekend.
