Wood burner causes early morning fire in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH Twp., Ohio (WKBN) — A wood burner is to blame for a fire in Ellsworth Township.

It started just before 1:30 a.m. Monday on the 4000 of Gault Road.

Ellsworth Fire Chief Edward Smith says once the fire started, it made its way into the walls of the home.

The fire was contained on the first floor, and the home suffered from smoke damage.

Smith says it took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

“There was no one hurt,” Smith said. “The homeowners tried to put the fire out but evacuated so they could get out.”

Smith says they were assisted by firefighters from Canfield, Jackson Township, Milton Township, Green Township and Berlin Township.
