A Jerseyville man started the new year in the Greene County Jail after an altercation at the Roodhouse Casey’s on Dec. 31.
According to Roodhouse Police Chief Kyle Robison, a Roodhouse Police Officer was dispatched to the Roodhouse Casey’s store at 9:44 p.m. in reference to a dispute between an employee and two other male subjects who entered the building.
“The responding officer recovered a loaded firearm and arrested one male subject,” Robison said. “The officer was able to swiftly handle the dispute without further incident.”
Officers arrested Michael C. Dixon, 33, of Jerseyville. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and/or Firearm Ammunition, Resisting Arrest and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Robison said Dixon does have a valid FOID card but does not possess a valid conceal carry permit.
“We are extremely pleased with the quick response of law enforcement and their ability to maintain and restore the peace,” Robison said. “We expect additional charges to be filed against other subjects involved in the coming days. The report has been sent to the Office of the States Attorney for review.”
