Mrs. Thelma Delores Sullivan Jones, age 78, of Meansville, passed away December 30, 2024, at her home. She grew up in Zebulon, daughter of the late Pierre Sullivan and Thelma Wilson Sullivan. She worked and was co-owner of Sullivan’s Grocery for over 40 years, while in her younger days she worked at Upson Regional Medical Center and also taught lifeguard and CPR to the community for over 20 years.
Delores loved the Lord, reading her Bible, gardening, cooking, baking cakes and spending time with her family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Clifford Ray Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years: Billy Ray Jones; children and their spouses: Lynn (Tim) Daniels, Tammy (the late Jimmy) Gresham; grandchildren and spouses: Erica (Brett) Quinzon, Jessie Daniels, BJ (Ansley) Gresham, Jamie Daniels (Conrad Holdwick), Dalton (Anne) Jones, Kayla (Alex) Taylor, Kourtney Jones, and Brittany Mitchell; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 2 p.m., in Fincher Memorial Cemetery in Meansville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, in memory of Delores.
Moody-Daniel Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
