Lanes reopened after traffic held on A2 coastbound between M25 junction and Bean due to three-vehicle crash involving an overturned car

All lanes have now reopened after traffic was held for two hours following a three-vehicle crash on the A2 earlier this evening.

Three out of four lanes on the coastbound carriageway between the M25 junction 2 for Darenth and the B255 for Bean were closed following the incident, involving an overturned car, at around 3.30pm.

National Highways is reporting all lanes are now open but motorists are still facing delays of up to one hour stretching back five miles along the A2 from Blackfen to the M25 junction.

Earlier all four lanes were shut as fire engines, police and ambulances attended the scene.

Eventually just one lane was closed and reopened around 5.30pm.

National Highways traffic officers were also in attendance.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called to assist the South East Coast Ambulance Service following the crash.

Three fire engines attended and its crews had left the scene by 4.30pm.

One person has reported injuries.

A spokesman for Kent Police sent it was called to the A2, coastbound at Dartford following reports of a collision involving three vehicles.
