King Kone manager Steven Pruitt said that the business is a Hot Springs staple.

“It means a lot to the community,” he said. “It’s been here so long, one of the best places to eat in Hot Springs.”

Brent and Tera Drain are third-generation owners of King Kone and two weeks ago their life changed after Brent was in a wreck in his 18-wheeler.

Betsy Efird is a family friend and goes to church with the Drains.

“He’s had about five surgeries already and has a long road to recovery,” Efird said.

They’re doing what they can to show love to the Drains and it is as simple as buying a milkshake.

“Someone else in our church had suggested we ask our connect group to just ask people to eat here as a way to support them, and that’s just a really easy and tangible way that people can show their support for them during this hard time,” Efird said.

Pruitt said they’ve seen people coming in and ordering more recently all to help out doing what they can to support a family and business they love.

“Everybody is showing support whether it’s text messages, donations, people coming to order food leaving money, a lot of phone calls, a lot of reaching out to the community,” Pruitt said.
